Perfume bottles are distinguished by their increasingly refined – and sometimes daring – yet instantly recognisable shapes. Their design alone embodies the identity of each fragrance.
It was through this spirit that in 1921, Gabrielle Chanel commissioned Ernest Beaux to create an original perfume: “a woman’s perfume with a woman’s scent”. Thus the legendary Chanel N°5 was born.
A century later, to celebrate this anniversary, the sumptuous 2021 ml Grand Extrait Baccarat was created.
During the Golden Tech competition, the candidates will have to weld different elements with precision in order to reproduce all the elegance and uniqueness of a 2026 ml bottle of N°G as faithfully as possible.
History
Perfumery made its mark in France in the 16th century at the court of Catherine di Medici, then in Grasse, the historic capital of perfume. Combining craftsmanship and innovation, it has become a world-renowned art form. Cosmetics, for their part, have their roots in the court of Versailles, where powders and make-up were the hallmark of the art of good appearances. Industrialised in the 19th century, it made its mark thanks to scientific innovation and the prestige of Paris.
